Travel Opportunities: Group Travel Can Save You $100’s

Group Travel is becoming a more popular form of travel for all generations. One of the biggest reasons for this is safety. What many people don’t realize is that group travel is a great opportunity to save money for each traveler.
After 9/11 there was a surge in group travel because it made people feel more secure. What came with the group travel surge was safety and better deals to be had in all segments of the travel industry, without many travelers even knowing it.
Groups give travelers the opportunity to gain some control over their lodging situations. Depending on the size of your group and the time of your travels, hotels will cater to your groups needs. Once hotels hear the word group, the money bell rings. Hotels view group travelers as a great opportunity to cash in on their amenities. This works as a win-win situation for the travelers and the hotel. Lodges know that if you’ll be coming with a group, you will more likely be spending a good deal of money on drinks, food and entertainment. Not to mention that if they live up to your expectations, you may be coming back or raving to your friends about their hospitality.
What you want to do when booking a group (which I consider 3 or more people) is shop some hotels. A few simple emails can give you an idea of who is willing to work with you, which will be more hotels than not. Tell them exactly what you are looking for and what you expect from them (cleanliness, restaurants, pool, spa etc…). Than talk about prices and what other hotels were willing to do for you and see if they can beat their price. Find the one you really want to stay with and convince them that the other hotels have offered better deals, but you really want to stay with them for X reasons.
The bigger the group, the more negotiating power you as a traveler have to work with. For every ten travelers staying at the hotel, you should be able to negotiate the eleventh person for free.
Don’t be afraid to break out your negotiation skills when it comes to lodging. You’ll be surprised at what will be offered to you. Now send some emails!
Cheers to another adventure,
